Carlos Bielsa is Managing Partner and Chief AI Officer at BIT Capital. He joined BIT Capital in 2019 and has been a driving force behind its rapid growth and technological evolution — building the AI and quantitative systems that power the firm's investment process, from proprietary signal generation and alternative data to AI-driven research automation.
He has co-managed BIT Capital's flagship technology equity strategies since May 2022, including the BIT Global Technology Leaders fund (~EUR 1.5bn AUM), which has compounded at roughly 36% per year since its inception in January 2019 (R-I share class, EUR, to August 2026). Over the three years to May 2026 the fund ranked #7 of 175 funds in Citywire's Equities – Technology sector (+275% vs. a sector average of +100%). The fund has received over 20 industry awards for risk-adjusted performance, most recently the LSEG Lipper Fund Award Europe 2026 (Equity Global) and the Mountain View Fund Award 2026 (Sector Technology). In December 2025 he was first awarded Citywire's AAA manager rating, its highest (Citywire ratings refresh monthly), and in 2026 Citywire's Euro Stars selection ranked him #7 among Germany's best fund managers and #3 of 104 managers in Equities – Technology over the three years to December 2025 (+290.5%). He was appointed Managing Partner & Chief AI Officer in September 2025.
Before finance, he spent nearly a decade at the European Space Agency as a Flight Dynamics Engineer. As part of the Rosetta operations team, he played a key role in the first, and only, successful comet landing in history — including the implementation and online training of the cometary atmospheric model used in flight operations. He also developed critical ground software infrastructure used to command major ESA missions including Rosetta, Mars Express, and Solar Orbiter.
He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (with distinction) and an MSc in Finance from the University of London (SOAS).
